phpMyAdmin FAQ 1.16 error code--help!

Hello,

I need help. I receive the following error code when importing a .sql file.
The size of the two files (dif databases) is 2k and 20k so I am not sure why I would get a size error code.

Is there an issue with phpMyAdmin or is there another tool in XAMPP that would import the file?

Also what are the steps or is there an app out there to import larger files?

My server (XAMPP) is set up on my local mac.

some random thoughts:

The size should be no problem for pma at all.

You can test whether your dumps are OK on the mysql CLI or on the pma demo server: http://pma.cihar.com/STABLE/?pma_username=root

Don't forget to check your error.logs

As stated in faq 1.16 you also could try http://www.ozerov.de/bigdump.php

Hi,

I am very new to programing and using phpmyadmin and mysql. I am trying to import a database onto my localhost. However, I keep getting the error message "No data was received to import. Either no file name was submitted, or the file size exceeded the maximum size permitted by your PHP configuration. See FAQ 1.16." Rob this sounds very similar to your problem, did you ever figure it out? I really don't think the file is too big.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was able to fix this problem by changing a directive in the ini.php file.
The directive is "upload_tmp_dir".
For some reason, at least for my install, xampp sets this up as commented out and as an empty string.
Change this ini.php directive to: uncommented and "/tmp".
You will need to restart xampp for this to take affect.
