Annoying redirects?

I have a fresh Ubuntu installation. I also installed XAMPP.
I have deleted the index.html file that came on htdocs by default.

Here is the situation:
When I type in my browser http://localhost/ it goes to http://localhost/xampp/ (index.php)
I want when I type http://localhost/ to go to http://llocalhost/ (index.php)

What should I do? Manually type http://localhost/index.php is not a solution.
