Importing MYSQL Files from Win to Ubuntu

Postby midiweb » 22. September 2008 15:20

hi, how to import my Mysql files of my database from WIN to Ubuntu?
Are the files format MYD, MYI and frm with both systems compatible?

Why that? I just crashed my Win Xp and cannot start Xp anymore. I have a death blue screen. I try to recover but in vain. But I have Ubuntu installed on the same HDD and can go to the Win Partitions.
Where are on Ubuntu the database files?
So I copied the XAMPP /MYSQL/DATA on a usb stick.

Can I use the same files on Ubuntu or on Mac OS?

Thanks

Hi,

i don't think that the Files are compatible, but i never tried. I would extract the Zip-Version of Windows-XAMPP onto the USB-Stick and copy the Data-Folder there. Then go to a friend with a running Windows-Computer and start XAMPP from the USB-Stick. Backup your Databases with phpMyAdmin or the Commandline tool and save it as SQL. Then you can reimport it on your Ubuntu installation.
