Apache stopped on its own- turned off antivirus but..

I managed to get Apache to stop automatically turning off by switching off system mechanic virus protection and firewall but I get an error message-

The instrusction at "067c9100c8" referenced memory at "0x013f0010". The memory could not be "read" click ok to terminate program.

I've googled this and it looked as though it could be caused by IE so i reinstalled IE but the problem remains.

Any trhoughts any one?

No - I was perhaps being too literal.

I can start apache but it stops after about 30 seconds unless I turn off System Mechanic firewall and virus protection.

After turning off the firewall / virus protection, Apache no longer shuts down but i get the error message quoted in my original post.
