XAMPP redircting localhost to localhost/xampp

Postby 137th Gebirg » 30. June 2008 17:17

Hello all:

I've noticed that after installing XAMPP on Linux, when I type http://localhost/ into the URL field it automatically redirects to http://localhost/xampp/

How do I configure this to turn it off so that it stays in the localhost root directory? Any help appreciated.

You'll need to delete the index file that inside the root directory. The index is doing a redirect to the xampp directory. I did notice something funny, however, atleast on the new FireFox 3.0 it cached the page and kept redirecting even after I deleted the index page. To fix that I cleared the cache of my browser and firefox started functioning properly again.

So if you delete the index file and it still redirects, try clearing the cache of your browser.

Thank you! I knew it was something simple. It was, in fact, the FireFox 3 caching that was causing it. It had to be, as I already removed the original index.html.

Thanks again!

No problem at all! Glad you were able to get it going, it frusterated myself for a little bit till I learned what FireFox 3.0 was doing.
