I need help (noob question alert)

Postby stephanie_desu » 29. April 2008 23:44

Hey, I'm really new to making websites and stuff, and I need some help.
I'm making a kusaba style imageboard that I'm hosting on my PC. I downloaded XAMPP and the imageboard works fine on the local IP address, (127.0.0.1). However, I want the website to be accessible by people over the internet. How do I do this?

I am sorry that I cannot be more specific than this but I really don't know much about this at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)

First you have to open port 80 (for HTTP) and use your IP as address or use a program like No-IP to use a Domain Name associated to your IP.

... This would also mean you need to have your PC on 24/7... most people just find themselves a free host that will run their PHP/MySQL scripts.
