Upgrading to latest version

I have downloaded upgrade package 1.6.6a and tried to install it.

On trying to upgrade I get the message

XAMPP Win32 Not Found. Unable to get install path

This is more then likely due to my system crashing and the main install getting wiped when i had to re install windows,

Is there a way I cn add this path back to the system so that I then can upgrade my local server.

I don't think so. Try a full install instead.

I was thinking that myself, but to verify will it destroy anything by installing a fresh into the same directory or ......

I really dont want to have to restore all the databases and such.
