Security when using XAMPP lite on XP Home

Postby lascotia » 06. April 2008 09:10

Hello.

I would be grateful for advice.

I want to use XAMPP lite so I can install Wordpress locally on my XP Home pc.

What do I need to do in order to protect my pc when using XAMPP lite?

Thank you in advance.

Hello again.

Well, when all the neccessary xamppbundle ports aren't open for the internet it is safe. When you've opened the ports for Internet at the router you shall install a firewall.

But it seems you'd like to host wordpress blog at your home, right? Then use a firewall.

Hello.

Thank you again.

Some advice I have read says that it is necessary to go to the Security Console MySQL & XAMPP Directory protection and set a password...

Other advice says this is not necessary.

Is it necessary to set a password or not?

(My pc is connected to the internet [automatically when I switch it on] via a router and has a firewall).

Thank you.
