If your trying to upload to localhost using FTP then you may well have errors.

Extract the files from the script's archive (zip file etc) to a directory on your desktop then just copy or move the files to the directory in your localhost web site using Windows Explorer in the normal way or simply extract the files to the directory location in your localhost web site - don't use FTP for localhost file transfers.

Thats all you need to do.

Unfortunately that's exactly what I did, I moved the folder to the Xampp/htdocs folder with explorer. I did not use an FTP program.

I am actually trying to find out how to use Filezilla to transfer the folder in binary mode.

When I enter the default port and address, FileZila gets stuck/just haults like it's waiting.

Can you even log into localhost with the filezilla client? What is the Filezilla Server with Xampp for?

It's simply a FTP Server program. It's on you to configure users and groups and default folders for the users. There is NO default configuration.
