Is there a way to get the InnoDB engine

Postby in2mobile » 09. February 2008 10:37

I would like to use the InnoDB engine on my tables but for some reason in PhpMyAdmin it is saying "InnoDB has been disabled for this MySQL server".

Is there a way that I can activate it by changing some settings. Or is this not possible.

Thank You

You have to activate the engine in the configuration file of MySQL, i.e. my.cnf in the bin-Folder or my.ini in Windows-Folder (depends on OS and Xampp Version).

Read and follow the instructions in the Configuration File (InnoDB is pre-configured but commented out).

After you have to restart MySQL.

A scory I've looked through all the folders but I can't seem to find where the file is at. I am running windows nt and have xampp version 1.6.5. I found the my.ini file but there wasn't any option for me to add the InnoDB engine.

Hm, I found several Config Files on my installation. There is one called "my_example.cnf", I will copy & paste it into this board. Adapt it to your needs:

Code: Select all
# Example MySQL config file for small systems.
#
# This is for a system with little memory (<= 64M) where MySQL is only used
# from time to time and it's important that the mysqld daemon
# doesn't use much resources.
#
# You can copy this file to
# /xampp/mysql/bin/my.cnf to set global options,
# mysql-data-dir/my.cnf to set server-specific options (in this
# installation this directory is /xampp/mysql/data) or
# ~/.my.cnf to set user-specific options.
#
# In this file, you can use all long options that a program supports.
# If you want to know which options a program supports, run the program
# with the "--help" option.

# The following options will be passed to all MySQL clients
[client]
# password       = your_password
port            = 3306
socket          = mysql

# Here follows entries for some specific programs
