datadir problem?

Hello,

I want to change the directory where i have stored my databases.
(default is: /applications/xampp/xamppfiles/var/mysql/)
i want to change it to:
/Volumes/SHARED/Werk/Database

How do i do this?
I tryed editing my.cnf
but mysql server crashes?
If i press start mysql in the xampp control panel.
It says: XAMPP: Starting MySQL...
After a while:
/Applications/xampp/xamppfiles/bin/mysql.server: line 159: kill: (1125) - No such process


Please some help?
