Problems with the Windows version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

Object not found..

Postby Squibbit » 07. November 2007 17:32

Hello, I recently installed XAMPP Version 1.6.4 on my computer (Windows XP Professional, 150gb internal hard drive, 500gb external hard drive, 448MB RAM, AMD Sempron 3000+ Processor). The installation went fine (I installed XAMPP on my external drive [G:] using the provided XAMPP installer), there are no errors contained in the error.log file and Apache and MySQL run fine also. I had previously installed Version 1.6.3a on the same system and that worked perfectly (I had uninstalled XAMPP and reformatted my computer a long time before I tried to install the newer version).

The problem I am encountering is when I try to view any web page I have created (html and php) I keep getting the Object Not Found page. I've tried in Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2.

When I open the Admin panel for Apache, in http://localhost/xampp/ I click the status link and everything but the SMTP service is activated. However, when I go back to the Welcome page and click on https://127.0.0.1/xampp/ and view the status page, only HTTPS (SSL) and FTP Service is activated.

I clicked back to the Welcome page and switched, once again, back to http://localhost/xampp/ and view the status page. Now everything is deactivated besides HTTPS (SSL) and FTP Service.

I reviewed some other posts with a similar problem, I have uninstalled XAMPP and reinstalled it - no luck.
I have checked that each of my pages have the correct file extension - no luck.
I have ensured that the directory of my files are correct (https://localhost/xampp/htdocs/website/test.php) and I have no luck with that either.

Is there something obvious that I'm missing? if anyone could shed some light on my problem, I'd be eternally grateful :D

Thanks in advance.

You mean:
