Apache conflict with Pando on port 443

Postby joarvat » 23. October 2007 21:40

I'm posting this in case others meet the same problem. Something was blocking Apache from starting up, and I got the message "could not connect to port 0.0.0.0:443"

By using the command netstat -nob I found out the conflicting program was Pando.exe, a program similar to bittorrent for downloading large files.

I went to Pando options and disabled the starting of Pando when the computer starts.

After that, Apache started normally.

Thanks Joar for sharing that useful remedy for another piece of software that may interfere with a port that Apache needs exclusive access to operate.

For those interested in details of what Pando (freeware) does:

Take a look at the new DeskTopXampp launch control for XAMPP
and XAMPPlite (DTX.exe) posted by ridgewood:

Available at Ridgewood's new DTX web site http://zedfiles.com/DTX/
Also available here: http://nat32.com/dtx/
I highly recommend DTX.
