xampp has gone messed up

I ran some script that i have used many times but it decided to stop responding which happens often on vista anyway... but now when i load my script firstly the images dont load and the script also stops working this applies to all pages too...

plus if i have header : location check.php for example the url doesnt change it just adds it on to the url like this:

localhost/login.php becomes
localhost/login.php/check.php

why is this happening?
