Xampp auf U3 - USB-Sticks

Was sollte alles noch in XAMPP rein? Was kommt definitiv bald? Was kommt so bald wie möglich, dauert nur noch etwas? Was kommt wahrscheinlich nicht rein?

Xampp auf U3 - USB-Sticks

Postby nora0355 » 16. May 2007 13:13

Hallo,

Hello.

I have been experimenting with XamppLite for U3.
I have found a way to add it to the U3 menu (if you are still interested?)

It does however require the xampplite folder to be unzipped into the root folder of the usb drive.
But everything else is started directly from the U3 launchpad.

If you are interested... let me know.
Just post a reply here and i'll get an e-mail about it.

P.S. XAMPPLite requires about 125 MB of total space.
Thought that might be important to mention.

Created a new install with the FULL package of xampp.

All features are now working (apache, Mysql, FileZilla and Mercury).

The xampp still runs from the root folder of the usb drive, but it's fully integrated into the U3 start menu.

You can stick your usb drive into the computer, click the U3 logo and select "XAMPP Webserver" to start everything.

Interested ?
Send me a PM !

P.s.: The full version is about 222 MB unpacked (the rar file is 66 MB).

Jeez man... if that's the way you want it... FINE

It took me long enough to figure it out... so have fun doing it yourself !

You can get the full package as portable from 'here' (This is NOT U3) !
I trust you can find out how to make it U3 compatible yourself.
Once again... have fun !

Since there is a new version available (1.6.6) i will be making a new U3 release for that version.

It's still in progress and i will inform you as soon as it is ready.
Once i have an easier way to make the u3 compatible with newer versions without building a whole new u3 package i will be posting the details here.

Hopefully that way the u3 installer will be compatible with newer versions without messing up the previous install. (1 U3 installer for all versions to come :D)

I'll keep you informed.

tazman,

what I meant to say:

If you have a solution, please post it so everyone can apreciate your solution.
But PM an "mail me" isn't helpful for most users....

If you have a U3 release for xampp 1.6.6(a) I'd like to compare it with my WOS....
perhaps it's worth changing sides ;-)

Well... it's finally ready.

What i had to do to make it work, was take the portable launcher and convert it to U3.
Also needed to make some changes in the way it launches Xampp control center to make it compatible with new releases and offcourse older versions.

I have tested the U3 launcher on various versions of xampp and it works !
Simply download the zip archive of xampp (full or lite (compatible with both)) and unzip it into the root folder of your usb drive.
Install the U3 Webserver launcher on your U3 usb stick and you're ready to go !

For anybody who wants the U3 launcher, you can download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?w9yx9mnxp3d

P.s. Any comments or ideas would be appreciated.
