Working offline with XAMPP

I have installed XAMPP and it's working. My problem is that I want to work offline and cannot figure out how to upload my software (joomla) to the server. When I try uploading thru my FTP it keeps wanting a URL. I want to connect directly to the server without going online.

just add the files to the htdocs directory within xampp's main directory.
