Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket

Postby Omkara » 22. May 2007 22:42

Hi everybody,
I hope someone can help me with this..

I just did a fresh install of Ubuntu Feisty Fawn and installed Xampp as described on the website. Everything worked fine, until I rebooted. I now get this error message on my phpbb board:

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/opt/lampp/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) [2002]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.

I checked, but couldn't find the file described. How can I fix this error?

I noticed MySQL is suddenly deactivated at the Xampp status page..
How can I reactivate MySQL?

Hi,

simple type on #

/opt/lampp/lampp startmysql

then it should be restarted.

otherwise you can reload all of xampp via:

/opt/lampp/lampp restart

if you simple do:

/opt/lampp/lampp

you get a complete message of startflags for lampp

greetings
