Port 80 Timeout / Abschaltung des Tores 80

Postby tenfold » 20. April 2007 01:46

I have xampp lite and I got it working fine on port 8000, but I tried port 80 and I can only see it on http://localhost/ from my own computer. Port 80 is forwarded and yet other people can not see my page, it times out, why?

Maybe I'm missing the point of your question, but according to my understanding XAMPP was intended as a development environment for you (only) to see your web pages, not as cheap way to host your web pages on your desktop computer. You should probably be glad that other people cannot see your pages.

I base my opinion on this page -- http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html#1221 -- which you may want to read before replying to me. Thanks.

First of all Eric, I'd like to thank you. I installed Apache on port 80, port forwarded it, but when people outside of my lan connect to it, it times out, there's no transmission at all. However, I put apache on port 8000 and also port forwarded it, and it worked fine, people could connect to it, and I got an "accept transmission" dialog from my firewall, and allowed it, and it was perfect. It just will not work on port 80, any reason at all it could be doing this?
