MariaDB (MySQL) Login Problem

Postby germa66 » 05. December 2016 04:29

hey, sorry if this question is a kind of a noobs question.

i've been exploring around xampp for a while now, but there's something that's been bothering me.

how can i login to the database (MariaDB) using anything, ex : mysql -u anything
eventhough i can't do anything while logged in using that kind of user but it just keeps bothering me.

any help would be appreciated, thanks a lot.

p.s : sorry for my bad english

Warum überhaupt Englisch? Hier ist ein deutsches Forum.

Die Voreinstellung bei einer neuen Installation ist wie folgt:

Datenbankserver: localhost
UserId: root
Passwort: (leer - kein Passwort)

Well i don't realize it at all, i'm so sorry and i really appreciate your help, and i know about the default account, my problem is why do i'm able to login using other user that doesn't even exist but it has to be without a password.

Ex = mysql -u germa
I can login using that eventhough there's no germa username

Once again, sorry for my english and thanks for your help.

P.s. : i'm looking for a forum for xampp and i got in here directly so i think this is global, lol totally my fault for not cross checking it first.

Xampp comes preconfigured with a MySQL Database which contains an empty user (kind of everybody) without password. This User is taken for login if you specify an unknown user. Start phpmyadmin and see all user accounts, you will see it. But this user nearly has none rights to do anything, As far as i know, it only may select from the "test" database.

You may simply delete that user (it exists in two flavours, one for localhost and one for wildcard host), delete them both and a "mysql -u germa" will fail as expected.

As you should remember, Xampp is meant for development only, therefore it is unsafe and open as possible. This empty user is for quick and dirty access, sometimes it is handy for development and a quick test.
