MYSQL won't start even if port is 3307

Postby danzVP06 » 05. August 2014 07:31

This is the error I'm getting

2:26:51 PM [mysql] Problem detected!
2:26:51 PM [mysql] Port 3306 in use by ""C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin\mysqld" --defaults-file="C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\my.ini" MySQL"!
2:26:51 PM [mysql] MySQL WILL NOT start without the configured ports free!
2:26:51 PM [mysql] You need to uninstall/disable/reconfigure the blocking application
2:26:51 PM [mysql] or reconfigure MySQL and the Control Panel to listen on a different port

I have already deleted, uninstalled my Mysql server 5.1, all mysql related files are deleted. I tried reinstalling xampp but it's still the same.

I have also changed the port thru config all 3306 to 3307 but still having the same error

I have also tried cmd and looked for the 3306 PID but nothing shows up so that means that it's also not in the task manager.

I've also repeated the same steps and restart my computer but still no avail.

I was wondering what else I can do to make this run properly? Your help would be appreciated!

You are mixing up "PID" (ProcessID) and "Port". Of course you will not find a task with PID 3306. Watch out if there is (still) a process called "mysqld".

P.S.: Did you really uninstall MySQL 5.1 properly and rebootet after? Somethimes an uninstallation fails, if there is a an active process.
