mysql won't start

Postby rivlinj » 28. March 2009 13:54

After installing XAMPP on my computer when the XAMPP Control Panel opens it shows MySQL checked and MySQL won't run. If I click Start for MySQL I see a message - Error- MySQL Service Not Started. If I click the MySQL box to try and remove the checkbox I get a dialog box asking if I want to cancel MySQL. I seem to be in an endless loop. How do I get MySQL to start?

What version of Windows?
What version of XAMPP?
Both omitted.

Go to xampp\mysql folder and double click on mysql_installservice.bat file.

Then go back to the XAMPP control Panel (XCP) and check that the tick is in the Svc box and MySQL is showing a green running indication - but DO NOT click on the Admin... button next to MySQL or you will have more issues to deal with.
