Help with mysql

Postby Guest » 02. February 2003 08:45

Hello all,

When i try to use mysqladmin i get the following error
mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' exists!

It started to do this once i installed lampp. Could someone point into the right direction to get this fixed. Thanks for the help.

Hello!

Please use /opt/lampp/bin/mysqladmin and not only the command name. It seems you have also an MySQL installed by your Linux distribution and if you call mysqladmin you're using that one and not the command from LAMPP.

Greetings,
