Moving from one version to the next

Postby krelvinaz » 28. February 2006 02:07

Upgrading from one version to the next on the beta is not really that hard.... except for me the mysql stuff.

Is there a sure fired way to move the contents of mysql from one version to the next so that when I am done, all the user privs, databases and contents are the same, just using the newer version?

In the past, I've had to export and reimport and then recreate the user privs... and I'm sure there has to be an easier way.

I am currently about to create a zone (Solaris 10 Sparc) install the newest Xampp version and then move the working system from the primary to the zone. When the zone is working, I will then drop the old version from the primary and use the zone from that point forward.

I've got a 90gb Raid5 partition set up just for zones.

What is the old MySQL version and the new one?
