No command line/MySQL.exe (XAMPP).

Hello,

Am trying to work through Sitepoint's Database Driven Website 2nd Edition and have downloaded XAMPP. php seems to be working but i'm having problems in logging on to MySQL via c:\mysql\bin or Program Files\xampp\mysql as mysql isn't installed in root from what I can gather, double-clicked on mysql.exe, command line window quickly appears but disappears .

Am running WinXP with SP2. Any idea's where i'm going wrong and how I can get a command line, ready to run the MySQL client program and connect to MySQL server?.

Any comments would be appreciated.

to use XAMPP-mysql with command line
open CMDwindow

cd c:\xampp\mysql\bin
and now you can use mysql commands

Hi, Thank you for your reply. xampp wasn't installed in root of c:\ however has now been copied into root. Typed in mysql.exe and the following error message appears: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'ODBC'@ localhost' (using password: NO). Any idea's how I can get this up and running?. Ich erhalte exakt die gleiche Fehlermeldung wie itxweather, wenn ich den Anweisungen folge, also

Soweit ich weiß, ist doch standardmäßig kein Passwort eingestellt... ?

ok.... i see you have this:
c:\Program Files\xampp\mysq\bin
and then you can use mysql -u root localhost ............
