php function to check the corrupted characters in a string

Is there any function that is used to check whether string has corrupted characters in them (checking all the localized strings any language strings[example: chinese, japanese,german,spanish etc)

What du you mean with "corrupted character"? If its a character, then it might not be corrupted ^^
