apache revers proxy Time out

Using Apache as reverse proxy for Dotnet on ubuntu .
when starting backend i get 503 error . this expected as backend server takes about 10 seconds to start .
init service script in linux will start backend in this time frame.
how can i make Apache wait until upstream server restart ?

You may try the connectiontimeout and timeout parameters in your worker (i.e. in the ProxyPass statement). Not sure if it works, as it defaults to 60s (what should have avoided your problem anyway, but maybe i am wrong about that), but i think its worth to give it a try.
