Apache Error 2002 ...Apache cannot be started

Hello ,
I am getting this error when i start apache #2002 - The server is not responding (or the local mysql servers socket is not correctly configured )

I am not able to start xampp .
Any other files needed from windows to start apache ?

When i type localhost/phpmyadmin i am getting blank page .
Please give me solution on urgent basis .

Weird.

You get an error message about MySQL server when starting Apache?? I have never seen that and it makes no sense at all.
