separate Apache instances

Hello,

I need two separate instances of Apache in Debian 7, which should run simultaneously (on different ports).
Can I clone the /etc/apache2 directory and create a directory like /etc/apache2_2 or is there a better way to do it?

Why do need two different instances?

Many many problems of this kind can be solved be using VirtualHosts.

I want to install multiple instances of OTRS (trouble ticket system) which should not interfere with each other.
Also if I want to shutdown one instance of apache, the other one should still run.

No, that is NOT a recommendation, it is only a HOW TO. But I cannot see, why they do not use VirtualHosts instead.

Anyway, you may follow that article and install another Apache. This is beyond the scope of this forum.

Since my existing Apache config is not "clean". Is there a way to get a "untouched" one? It would be easier than edit the old one.

I dont know, that is a specific Debian installation, you should ask in a Debian Forum.
