Apache init.d file empty

Postby user_it » 07. May 2015 13:00

Hi All,
I found that my apache daemon file got empty some how few days ago, /etc/init.d/apache2,
my apache version: Apache/2.2.12 (Ubuntu)

I can't reinstall the apache package, as my server having many critical virtual hosts configured on it,
Is there any way i can restore that file in someway safe, that i can keep my config files safe and virtual hosts unchanged?

Thanks in advance.

I assume you are talking about stock apache from ubuntu?

In this case you can extract the original script from the deb-Package as described here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/37156/how-to-restore-a-single-file-from-a-package
Please note that you CANNOT download the deb package with the command as it is already installed. You will find the deb-file in this path: /var/cache/apt/archives/
