Error in mysql installation

I have installed Xamp 1.7.2 in windows xp. While trying to start mysql, i am getting following error
#2003 - Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061).

I have checked port configuration and port 3306 is used by SQL only. My error log says:
