Wordpress Index.php not loading

I installed a wordpress on a server run by Appache2.xx. but the wordpress index.php is not loading. I can access everything except the website homepage (index.php) is not loading. I tried to add [Directoryindex index.php] in .htaccess file. but it display 500 internal server error. I looked at dir.conf under apache2 folder. I saw [directoryindex index.php index.html... etc ] written inside.

I would be very grateful if someone can help me with this.

First you go to the admin side and remove seo friendly url type and then delete the .htaccess file.
Remember to keep backup of your .htaccess file first. Then login again to your admin side and enable seo friendly permalinks.
Work is done.
