Windows: cannot connect to local WebDAV Server

Postby WebDAVe » 10. August 2010 13:25

Hello,

I just set up XAMPP as a non-admin user on some Windows XP PC here. Apache is running and I gathered that WebDAV is included in apache. When I try to use Windows XP's "connect to network volume" dialoge to connect to http://localhost/ or http://127.0.0.1/, it polls me for the password. I apparently cannot use the default "wamp" user, but I have to use the user I created manually (xampp) and which is stored in security/xampp.users. When I enter my own username and password windows does not reject the password (by polling for it again), but telling me, that the folder is invalid and I should pick another one.

In the access.log of apache it says:
Code: Select all
127.0.0.1 - xampp [10/Aug/2010:14:21:14 +0200] "OPTIONS /xampp/ HTTP/1.1" 200 953 "-" "Microsoft Data Access Internet Publishing Provider Protocol Discovery"

The error.log tells me the following regarding the connect:
Code: Select all
[Tue Aug 10 14:21:14 2010] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: C:/Dokumente und Einstellungen/kas/Eigene Dateien/xampplite-win32-1.7.3/xampplite/htdocs/_vti_inf.html

I believe that it should work, but I cannot figure out, what I am doing wrong. It would be really nice if any of you could give me a hint :-)

SOLVED

I only tried non-encrypted yesterday, today I read that only https:// will work, and it does. My initial problem is solved now.
