configuration problem

Hello all,
(please feel free to reply in German, I do not write in
your language to well)

As a not-to-experienced apache admin: I configured a server w/ a system and a data-disk. I tried to symlink the /var/www/htdocs folder to the datadisk. Problem, however is, that the server will not serve files from the linked directory.

I _did_ check:
- The link is working correctly
- If I try to serve a /var/www/htdocs/index.html form the system-disk the file is shown correctly. If I try to serve an index.html from /var/www/ -> linked htdocs/index.html I get a 404.
- I checked permissions and owners
- I checked the docroot settings in httpd.conf

What did I miss?

Thank you.

Why r u doing this with symlinks?

Just edit /etc/httpd/httpd.conf (maybe /etc/apache2/*.conf) and change DocumentRoot to where U wanna have it.
