charset

I have a website in Spanish, this means letters with accents. Now I´ve tried different "charset" like UTF-8, iso-8859-1 and others, but my XAMPP does not represent these letters well on the localhost. On my website hosted server, which also is running apache, there is no problem. I know I can solve this by using ampersand (&) but my hosted server does it allright. What's wrong with my localhost?

Hello, here a late answer and a possible solution.
Try to enter your language in the file "charset.conv".
Do not forget, to enter your language in your html-files via meta-statement.
I think, your provider uses spain as default.
