Hallo zusammen,

ich nutze seit längerer Zeit XAMPP für Windows, bin aber kürzlich auf eine Linux-Maschine umgezogen.

Kurz-Info zum Server:
Eine VMWare VM mit 2 CPUs, 4GB RAM, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11.3 (x86_64) und Oracle 10 Standard Datenbank
Installiert habe ich LAMPP 5.6.3 x64

Unter Windows habe ich ebenfalls XAMPP genutzt. Leider scheine ich jedoch auf dem Linux-Server ein Problem mit mod_Perl zu haben, denn ich bekomme andauernd Segmentation faults.
Nutze ich nur simples HTML oder PHP habe ich keinerlei Probleme, aber da meine Anwendungen unter Perl laufen, tut dies jetzt weh.
Unter XAMPP auf der Windows-Maschine gab es diese Probleme nicht. Die Scripte selber sind jedoch nahezu identisch. Einige Änderungen (anderer Server und andere Datenbank halt) musste ich natürlich vornehmen.

Im LAMMP Error Log (/opt/lampp/logs/error.log) sehe ich Meldungen wie diese:

Mit gdb habe ich versucht, die httpd Prozesse zu überwachen, damit ich mehr Informationen bekomme.

Wenn ich gdb auf einen Child-Prozess setze hängt das ganze einfach nur noch, was in dem Thread auf Stackoverflow ebenfalls von einem User beschrieben wird.
gdb auf den Parent-Prozess mit "set follow-fork-mode child" scheint bei mir auch nicht zu funktionieren. Zumindest bekommt gdb keine der Segmentation Faults mit.

Als nächstes habe ich versucht, Corefiles zu aktivieren, aber leider auch hier kein Erfolg. Anleitung, der ich gefolgt bin: http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/configure-apache-web-server-for-core-dump.html
Ich muss gestehen, dass ich leider kein Experte auf dem Gebiet Apache bin, d.h. eventuell habe ich einen Konfigurationsfehler in den Apache Konfigurationsdateien, was der Grund für die fehlenden Corefiles ist. Zumindest meckert Apache nicht und lässt sich problemlos starten.

Core Dumps sollten OS-Seitig zumindest möglich sein:

Als Corefile Verzeichnis habe ich /oradata/apache-cores gewählt, da ich dem Filesystem ordentlich Platz habe.
Das Verzeichnis gehört bei mir auch dem entsprechenden User (daemon). Als daemon kann ich auch problemlos Dateien in dem Verzeichnis erzeugen.

Den Webserver habe ich natürlich auch neugestartet, aber ich bekomme es nicht hin, dass Apache Corefiles schreibt.

Kurz und knapp: mit Deinen ja durchaus vorhandenen Linux Kenntnissen würde ich nicht empfehlen, Xampp zu benutzen. Installiere die Version, die mit der Distribution kommt und versuche damit Dein "Glück". Du hast insgesamt ein erheblich besseres Software Umfeld, denn Xampp ist nicht optimal in die einzelnen Distributionen integriert. Normalerweise sollte auch die Installation von Apache, MySQL usw. wirklich kein Problem darstellen, das ist alles in den entsprechenden Repositories integriert.

Und wenn Du dann immer noch die gleichen Probleme hast, dann kannst Du eine viel größere Community um Hilfe bitten als die verhältnismäßig kleine Xampp Community unter Linux.

Dann schau ich mal, dass ich den normalen Apache ans Laufen bekomme.

Edit: Läuft und keine Crashes bisher. :)
yast2 macht die Installation auch verdammt einfach.

Na also. Xampp ist nur ein Notnagel unter LInux, fast immer laufen die Installationen aus den Repositories (hier mit Yast2) besser. Natürlich macht Yast2 die Installation "verdammt einfach". Das ist die Aufgabe von Yast. Ist aber auch unter Ubuntu und dem dort sog. "Software Center" genauso einfach. Leider wissen immer noch nur sehr wenige Menschen, wie total genial Linux ist und wie einfach die Installationen geworden sind.

Das ist aber eben das Problem (und einer der gewaltigen Unterschiede zwischen Linux und Windows), dass Windows für alle gleich ausgeliefert wird (bis auf die Unterschiede Windows7 vs. Windows8, 32bit vs. 64bit usw.), aber Linux gibt es in zig tausend (mittlerweile wirklich bald tausend) verschiedenen "Distributionen" und die einzelnen Tools werden zentral jeweils in bestimmten Repositories gehalten. Nur Xampp befindet sich leider in keinem dieser Repositories (ich habe in Erinnerung, dass das mal überlegt wurde, ob Xampp das standardisierte Umfeld für Webentwicklung auf Linux werden kann, aber das hat sich zerschlagen), sondern wird als monolithischer Block auf allen Distributionen gleich installiert. Und auf manchen Systemen passt es dann schlechter als auf anderen.

Xampp ist aber sowieso nur als Entwicklungsumgebung gedacht und in Anbetracht dessen, das im Grunde sämtliche Distributionen inzwischen ein mindestens ebenso einfach zu installierendes Serverumfeld mitbringen, welches auch noch optimal in die jeweilige Distribution eingepasst ist, stellt sich durchaus die berechtigte Frage, ob Xampp unter Linux überhaupt noch eine Daseinsberechtigung hat. Die vorrangige Idee, ein leicht zu installierendes Paket auszuliefern, leisten die Distributionen inzwischen selbst mindestens genauso gut.

Unter Windows ist das (mit Einschränkungen) noch etwas anders gelagert, obwohl auch dort die Installation von Apache, MySQL und PHP nicht wirklich schwierig ist, aber da muss immer noch der Anwendern Hand anlegen und die Tools durch entsprechende Konfiguration miteinander verknüpfen (was unter Linux durch Werkzeuge wie Yast geleistet wird).
