Site is not up

hi have one website developed in joomla and i uses to work comfortabily on Windows localhost using the software AppServ now i want that site to run on ubuntu. I installed xampp on my ubuntu and i placed my site htdocs.

Now when i enter the url in browser like localhost/mysite its not working and giving 404 error.

Any help?
