XAMPP Linub Redhat9 - High Mem Usage and Intermittant errors

I am seeing many intermitant PHP errors such as: " Warning: Unexpected character in input: ' in blah blah blah " and also seeing high mem utilization but this box is barely used. Here is a scrape from the top command:

I am running redhat9. I'm concerned because I have seen this on two seperate installations of xampp on an identical box with the idental os of redhat 9. Any ideas? is this a problem with xampp?
