php files not showing up in localhost

For some reason, the school files my teacher gives me are php files and they do not show up in my localhost when I put them in htdocs.
The weird thing is they show up on the windows side and work perfectly. Anyone had this problem also as I must constantly reboot in windows to use my files with Xampp ? Thanks
