Package File Upload

When I try to upload JCE (or any other component) on the new Joomla site and click on "browse for file," then on the zipped file downloaded, instead of the package uploading it "unzips" the file and lists all of them and wants me to do individually. When I tried the same procedure on the Windows computer, it did what I would expect--downloaded the jce and installed on the backend of Joomla. I checked permissions on the Mac, but that doesn't appear to be the issue. Is there something I need to do for the Mac to install from the zipped file (most of them are)? Thanks for any help as I'd like to continue with the Mac instead of reverting back to the Windows computer.
