xampp-osx-8.0.12-0-installer.bz2 file can't be installed

Hello,

I try to install the version 8.0.12 for Mac of XAMPP but a bz2 file (xampp-osx-8.0.12-0-installer.bz2) is downloaded instead of a classic .dmg one (although the correct name xampp-osx-8.0.12-0-installer.dmg appears at the bottom of the screen when i move my mouse above the "Download" button).
I uncompress the bz2 file with the Unarchiver application but get a file named xampp-osx-8.0.12-0-installer with no extension. I then manually add the .dmg extension and launch the file and get a window containing a XAMPP app. When i start this XAMPP app a window shows up with a sliding bar and a title Vérification de " XAMPP.app "... . The slider stops half-way and nothing changes.
How can i download the correct installer.dmg file?

PS this time i use MAC OS Sierra and a Macbook Pro Intel 64b

'brew install xampp' works

for brew installation check https://brew.sh/

After that you can start xampp from terminal with the following command

sudo /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/xampp
