Apache Web Server doesn't start - Checking syntax of configu

Postby rudva » 26. May 2021 22:28

After many weeks and several reads on this forum about the
cannot calculate MAC address: hv_vm_create unknown error -85
error I choose to quit and move forward other XAMPP version, the 8.0.6-0 non VM.

Browser show the It Works! but apache is not working.

I install it successfully but Apache Web Server is not running, if I open the Error_Log file through Configure Button it doesn't show anything, a empty file. Even the other files are 0 bites. After trying many time I check the Server Events and shows me:
Restarting all servers...
Starting MySQL Database...
/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/mysql/scripts/ctl.sh : mysql started at port 3306
Starting Apache Web Server...
/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/apache2/scripts/ctl.sh : httpd started
Starting ProFTPD...
Checking syntax of configuration file
/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/proftpd/scripts/ctl.sh : proftpd started

What is it? What should I check in the configuration file?
macOS Big Sur 11.4, XAMPP 8.0.6-0 (non VM)

When the Browser shows "It Works" you definately already have ANOTHER Apache installation up and running (NOT Xampp). Thats i can tell about, its on you to find out why and where. That Apache collides with Xampps Apache, you cannot run both.

Oh ok,

I just delete the XAMPP VM version due I didn't found any uninstall app. How do I uninstall it then? there is any other directory or folder where to erase the files or something similar?

Thank you!

I already contact apple support and they said that only XAMPP developers can help to remove all the files from the VM version. Does anyone knows how to fix this?

How do I uninstall XAMPP-VM?
To uninstall XAMPP-VM, follow these steps:

  • Delete the XAMPP-VM icon from the Applications folder.
  • Remove all XAMPP-VM data by deleting the ~/.bitnami folder within your home directory on the OS X host.

Yeah,

I follow those... it doesn't work.

I made the two steps, reboot the mac, then install the XAMPP 8.0.6-0 non VM and... the same It Works! message appears. Which means in the XAMPP console Apache service is not running. If I restart it... turns off again.

Didn't you read replies on your threads? As now multiple times said:

XAMPP don't use the "It works" page Apache uses by default.

You must have a different Apache installation or Apache based webserver stack installed on your system.

Hope thats now big enough that you are able to see it...

I read I promise, but for sure I am too bad to follow and fix.
Now as you see is working, but the It works! remains when localhost is loaded. How can I fix that?. I need to see the XAMPP test page

Clear the browser cache.

If "It Works" is still showing up, you failed, either you still have another Apache running or you did not clear cache properly.

Obviously, Apple BigSur installs its own Apache now. Ask Apple why and how to avoid.

Last not least, you may simply try to run http://localhost/dashboard (you may simply click here), it should show the Xampp Dashboard if Xampp is running correctly. If you get Error 404, still the wrong Apache is running.
