Xampp on m1

Postby Alessandro23 » 29. December 2020 23:19

Hi, i had installed xampp 7.4.13.0 on my mac (with m1 chip) and when i click start show this error "cannot calculate MAC address: hv_vm_create unknown error -85377023". I think this error happened becuase m1 is not supported yet.
Anyone have any news about its resolution or how to go about fixing this error?

Thank you very much for your time

Hi,

Maybe you want to try the installer versions of XAMPP for MAC instead?
You can find them on the Downloads Page https://www.apachefriends.org/download.html
They have the smaller file size and does have the word "installer" in it's filename

Hi,
I have installed Xampp for Mac downloaded from this page that you linked in the previous message. I don't understand where I can find the 'installer' as you tell me. So isn't it a compatibility issue with the new chip?

Thanks again!

At this page there are 8 Downoad links for XAMPP for MacOS.
4 of them are VM versions (~360Mb fie size) and 4 Installer versions (~160Mb).

I don't know. I do not buy Mac Computers and don't have a clue about their chips.
I just see your problem regularly here at this forum and most of them (if not all) could have been solved by using the Installer version.

I followed your advice and with the installer the error doesn't show up when I start apache unlike before. Tomorrow I will test it better but already doing a test even with a php file it runs it without problems.

Thanks so much for your help!

Proceed to https://www.apachefriends.org/de/download.html and look for OSX Downloads. There are 6 different Download Links, choose any of the three UPPER links (Size 163mb or 164mb). DO NOT Download one of the LOWER three (Size 358mb).

Then install that package.
