Retrieve lost files - MacOS Big Sur

Postby TimLan » 17. November 2020 03:57

Hey there, I recently updated to Big Sur, and then XAMPP wouldn't open. Googled around and found that I should install 7.4.12 for big sur, so I did just that. When I installed 7.4.12, it opened fine, but it wouldn't start, always giving this error: couldn't calculate MAC address. Then I searched again, and found that I should remove ~./bitnami/stackman, so that it'll work again. After removing it, it did work, but all my previous project files were gone. I know this may sound silly, but before I deleted the bitnami stackman folder, I've checked ~./bitnami/stackman/machines/xampp/volumes/root/htdocs and it was only filled with one ci_test folder, so I thought it was okay to delete it.

Any help is appreciated.

Nope, it was not OK to delete.
All your files were in there.
"Hidden" in an machine.qcow2 file. (Virtual Machine).

If you really deleted the folder stackman, and don't have a backup, all is lost...
