Permissions issue for uploading themes etc

Postby MrJL » 17. September 2020 15:41

I'm a noob so bear with me. I'm running wordpress locally on my mac using XAMPP. It's installed and now I want to upload a theme. It's asking me for ftp details. I've read some threads on how to disable ftp by adding some lines to the wp-config file but although that disables ftp wordpress is unable to create the directory for the theme. Like I said, I'm a noob, so I'd love some help on how to get around this! I don't really have any experience with servers and permissions etc so please treat me like a 5 year old with this stuff and assume I know nothing.
