MacOS editing http.conf file to username to use virtual host

Hi,
When I am trying to link virtual hosts and the host ip, it keeps telling me I have forbidden access. I have tried to change the conf file to my username and admin group from daemon, but then apache does not run and says I have a bad username. I looked in my settings and it tells me my username. Anyone else experience this?
