Permissions Issue

I am new to XAMPP. I currently use MAMP but would like to switch to XAMPP. The problem that I keep running into is the permissions issues based on the folders where my projects are. I have tried changing the user in httpd.conf to the system user, but that gives me even more problems.

The desired result is for XAMPP to function like MAMP. In that; when I start MAMP, there are no issues with permissions. I can also open an editor and start writing code. When I hit save, again no issues with permissions.

With XAMPP, the permissions seem to be a little more strict and there is something that is precluding me from being able to seamlessly code, save, test, repeat.

I have a feeling the issue is deeper than the httpd.conf file, so I was reaching out to see if anyone is having this issue. Thanks in advance.
