Failing to download joomla on MAC

So - I am new to using joomla and downloaded XAMPP in order to download and learn Joomla.
I found this tutorial located here:: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaBBkc7vh2k
I went through the tutorial up to the point where the user suggests to open up the internet and type in local host to locate joomla.
In doing so I found a 404 error stating object not found. I would like to continue to download joomla but I am not sure if I am doing everything correctly on the last step I clicked run and XAMPP apache server is running.

That tutorial is about MAMP, which is not XAMPP. You should ask in a MAMP forum, here is only XAMPP supported.

I wonder if you downloaded MAMP or XAMPP, but if followed the tutorial, it must have been MAMP, because that tutorial does not match to XAMPPs installer.
