Mounting Volume Crashes MacBook

Hi. I'm trying to access the HTDOCS folder (to add a folder for installing WordPress) via mounting the volume in XAMPP but every time I click mount, my computer restarts and a message pops up saying "Your computer has restarted because of a problem. Press a key or wait a few seconds to continue starting up." I'd appreciate any guidance in fixing this issue! I've searched for solutions and have not come up with any.

Dont use the Xampp VM version, instead install one of the normal packages without VM.
