xampp apache not finding my application folder

Postby jacobiyounger » 16. April 2018 01:12

My apache service won't run and I get the error:

Code: Select all
ERROR: Failed to start "apache": cannot start service: AH00526: Syntax
error on line 229 of /opt/lampp/etc/httpd.conf:
DocumentRoot '/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs' is not a
directory, or is not readable

I'm trying to change my documentroot and directory to

Code: Select all
DocumentRoot "/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs"

Directory "/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs">

I've tried a handful of solutions and nothing has been working.

EDIT: I forgot to mention I am using a MAC OS X

EDIT_2: I think it might have something to do with the serverroot but I am not sure.

Code: Select all
ServerRoot "/opt/lampp"

It looks, as if you edited the Apache configuration and put your own DocumentRoot?! Or did you copy it somewhere else? Obviously you are running the special Xampp-VM Version instead of one of the "normal" versions and it seems that your configuration is busted. If this happens right out of the box, it would be a severe error from Bitnami, as this folders do not exist in the Virtual Machine of Xampp-VM.

P.S.: Oups - i overlooked this one:

That does not work in your VirtualMachine. You should read the FAQ of your Xampp-VM and/or use the standard Xampp instead. There is a very important link "More info about Xampp-VM" in the download site which leads to the FAQ: https://www.apachefriends.org/blog/new_ ... 70628.html

Which version of xampp should I use? I’m trying to work on a project for one of my classes.
