I installed on my new Mac latest XAMPP-VM 7.1.10. When I want to connect to Mysql, I always get this error. I have same error in DataGrip and Sequal Pro. Photo https://i.stack.imgur.com/abHGh.png

Hi,
MariaDB is configured to not accept external connections for security reasons. You can use the XAMPP UI to create a tunnel for MariaDB: Network -> localhost:3306 -> 3306. That way you are able to access using 127.0.0.1 as host.
I hope it helps.
$ mysql -u root -h 127.0.0.1
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 21
Server version: 5.5.5-10.1.25-MariaDB Source distribution
